Grey Skys and below-par temperatures could only mean one thing, the summer 7s circuit was upon us. With the new 7s Kit on, Gazebo up, music blasting and Bens questionable rum punch warming up the spectators, we were ready to start.
Summer social skipper Eddy Fogg led out the boys for their first game against the South Kent sharks flying out the blocks to a 19-nil lead. The boys eased off the gas a little in the second half with a spirited fightback from the sharks the lads won the game 19-12
Now what happens next is all a bit of a blur (blame the questionable rum punch maybe) 2 more group games… and we were in a semi-final for a cup!
Semi-final… we win… couldn’t tell you the score if it was to save my life even ran through the chat, nothing. final here we come…
The final. After a long day of drinking and “playing” rugby the last game before glory was upon us against the in-form Kew Occasionals’s the lads started strong scoring first going 5-0 up a few back-and-forth scores left the game in the balance at half time - 14-12 to T’s. Second half was much the same, some tense moments but T’s kept going to win the game 21-17! First of what potentially could be 3 summer 7s trophies to come!
Thank you to all the great supporters we had down, the sun may have stayed at home but the support definitely didn’t!
Wasps 10s here we come.
