It was celebrations all round at St Mary’s as Thamesians marked their first home game of the season with a convincing bonus point League win over Wasps.
After a three-week break, Ts hit the ground running to treat a big home crowd to eight excellent tries. Hannah Jacques scored her first try for the club – and tracked back to make a superb try saving tackle.
Then Amanda Neivens celebrated her debut, and first game of XVs, by leaving a trail of defenders in her wake to score with her first touch of the ball.
Sydney Hayden-Fry was voted back of the match after claiming a well-deserved hat-trick.
The forwards dominated the scrum and breakdown, winning field positions for Courteney Ellis and Sarah Brindley to touch down, while Emelia Arbouine scored the pick of the bunch, running in a long-range Captain’s Special from inside her own half.
Amber Sheppard, solid as ever at full-back, kicked four conversions, while Izzy Baker, 17, completed the celebrations with the promise of great things to come on her Ts debut.
