A BRAVE performance in a muddy battle was not quite enough for Thamesians Women to beat a strong Thurrock side in this top-of-the-table league clash.
A brilliant individual try by Emily Powell, weaving her magic to run in from the half-way line, saw Ts turn round 14-7 down.
They matched Thurrock with a try each in the second half, but the visitors converted all three of theirs, while Ts were hampered by three yellow cards.
Committed tackling kept Thurrock at bay while Ts were down to 13 players, then Sydney Hayden-Fry touched down out wide, finishing off a series of powerful forward drives.
Emily Ward and Courteney Ellis were voted players-of-the-match.
Thamesians: Hannah Jacques; Izzy Baker, Tabby Young, Sydney Hayden-Fry, Rosie Cairns; Amber Sheppard, Emelia Arbouine (Capt); Amber Attack, Stefania Randazzo, Sarah Brindley, Chloe Nash, Becky Blanks (Amy Healey), Emily Ward, Courteney Ellis, Emily Powell. Poppy Knight, Kia Hayman, Aiobhin O’Connor
T’s are at home again this Sunday (hopefully back at St Mary’s) against East London Vixens. As always, your support is really appreciated.
