Thamesians Women continued their winning start to 2024 with an emphatic league win at Welwyn, where their brilliant team play was rewarded with eight tries.
Captain Emelia Arbouine set the ball rolling when she gathered Welwyn’s kick-off and ran it back for the first of her three tries.
Amber Sheppard also claimed a hat-trick, with Hannah Kent running in another long-range effort and Aminah Olaniyan forcing her way over from close range to cement the forwards’ authority.
Pick of the pack was No 8 Chloe Nash, whose ball carrying and fearless tackling kept Ts on the front foot throughout.
Jemma Smith kicked two conversions and Amber Sheppard added another after Jemma was forced off by an ankle injury.
Poppy Knight, 18, showed great promise on her Ts debut, helping to create Emelia’s last try with some smart play on the wing.
Special mention should also go to Golden Oldie Billy Glassup, who made the long journey to support the Team – and generously bought them yet another jug.
Next up is an away fixture against third-placed Wasps on Sunday, February 11. As always, your support is greatly appreciated.
